As a wedding photographer it’s really important to have good relationships with both venues and other suppliers. And I am absolutely delighted to be one of the recommended photographers at the beautiful 4 star country house hotel that is Barnett Hill Hotel.
Today I would like to introduce you to Nicola Heath, one of the two wedding coordinators here. Nicola has been at Barnett Hill for 2 years and prior to her position here, she worked at Lythe Hill in Haslemere. So with seven years of experience in the job, you are going to be well looked after by her. The Barnett Hill coordinators will help you plan the whole of your wedding and on the day there will always be someone from the team who you have met before.
I started by asking Nicola what is so special about Barnett Hill as a wedding venue. The hotel is set within 26 acres of beautifully maintained gardens and woodland; it is just outside Guildford but is in the heart of the Surrey Hills, which is an area of outstanding natural beauty in Surrey. The Hotel has been refurbished to a very high standard, providing modern comfort for guests. A recent addition are the two treatment rooms; offering massages, facials, manicures and pedicures – perfect for the bridal party if you are staying the night before your wedding.
There is the option to have exclusive use at Barnett Hill – just imagine this fabulous mansion all to yourselves for the day! You can have up to 80 guests for a wedding breakfast and 120 for your evening reception. The restaurant has 2 AA rosettes and the experienced banqueting team offer a choice of menus.
Last year Nicola noticed a trend for the English country garden theme, with pastel flowers in jam jars and logs for centre pieces. Both this year and last have seen people having sparklers outside as part of their celebrations. Confetti is, as ever, really popular – the only caveat is that it must be biodegradable and solely used outside.
When I asked Nicola about her thoughts on wedding photographers she said couples need to make sure that the photographer works well with you, they should blend into the background and your photography is something worth spending money on – you don’t want to have regrets.
Finally Nicola offered two further tips for brides: keep it simple so that you feel calm and trust your venue.
The next wedding fayre at Barnett Hill will be taking place in the autumn, the date is yet to be finalised. The Barnett Hill team will be on hand to give you a full show round of the venue and also answer any questions you may have. The Garden Suite and Drawing Room will be set up for a wedding ceremony and celebration. There will be lots of suppliers that you can talk to, from cake makers to make up artists to wedding photographers.
Appointments are available for new wedding enquiries every Tuesday, 12pm to 8pm.
