Jason & Ellie’s winter wedding celebration took place at the beautiful Ward Room, HMS Nelson in Portsmouth with friends and family. I was second shooting for friend and fellow photographer, Sam Gavins. My job was to get lots of candid story telling images, especially of the guests and all the detail shots. Having a second shooter is something that I highly recommend – it means that you will get more photos and whilst the primary photographer is photographing the bride and groom, the other shooter can get images of things that you don’t even know are going on. And during key moments you will have photos from different perspectives, giving you a much fuller set of images to enjoy. Usually too you can have groom prep photographed, as well as the photos of the bridal party getting ready.

After a relaxed ceremony, with amusing slideshow, the happy couple were saluted with an arch of swords. Since it was freezing cold January we did the couple photos and group shots indoors. These were followed by dinner in the magnificent dining room and speeches. The wedding cake was very novel – anyone for a Krispy Kreme? Hilarious dancing ensued, with guests getting into the spirit of the party. Huge congratulations to you both.
