Late Spring Wedding at Barnett Hill Hotel

Wide shot of the bride and groom kissing surrounded by guests throwing confetti with Barnett Hill Hotel in the background

Barnett Hill, the most gorgeous Queen Anne style country manor, was the setting for this late Spring wedding.  And what a fantastic surrey wedding venue it is. The couple tell me that they fell in love with Barnett Hill as soon as they visited.

Getting ready

The bride got ready with her mum, sister and niece in the Thomas Cook suite, with the help of the hair and make up team.

Meanwhile my second shooter was with the groom and his groomsmen doing some portraits and getting them all outside in the gardens.

The bride and groom chose to exchange letters with each other, it’s a lovely tradition that I love to document as often couples get emotional.

There was time for a couple of bridal portraits in the upstairs hall .

Then the bride’s two teenage sons came to see their mum in her wedding dress for a first look.

The ceremony

The ceremony was held in the oak panelled drawing room. The two sons walked the bride down the aisle to her waiting groom.

During the ceremony one of their friends read a Pam Ayres, which had everyone roaring with laughter.

Yes, I’ll marry you, my dear.
And here’s the reason why.
So I can push you out of bed
When the baby starts to cry.
And if we hear a knocking
And it’s creepy and it’s late,
I hand you the torch you see,
And you investigate.

Yes I’ll marry you, my dear,
You may not apprehend it,
But when the tumble-drier goes
It’s you that has to mend it.
You have to face the neighbour
Should our labrador attack him,
And if a drunkard fondles me
It’s you that has to whack him.

Yes, I’ll marry you, my dear,
You’re virile and you’re lean,
My house is like a pigsty
You can help to keep it clean.
That sexy little dinner
Which you served by candlelight,
As I do chipolatas,
You can cook it every night!!!

It’s you who has to work the drill
And put up curtain track,
And when I’ve got PMT it’s you who gets the flak,
I do see great advantages,
But none of them for you,
And so before you see the light,
I DO, I DO, I DO!!

Immediately after the ceremony everyone went outside to the terrace for the confetti. Several guests were armed with confetti cannons – lots of lovely confetti and they made us all jump and laugh.

Drinks reception

Following the ceremony, guests enjoyed canapés and drinks on the terrace and the gentle music of a string quartet. Both children and adults enjoyed playing on space hoppers and having games of lawn chess.

Couple photos

Here are just a few of the couple photos on the terrace. We did also go inside for some couple photos as they loved the downstairs corridor in the hotel.

Wedding breakfast

The wedding breakfast was held in the light and airy garden suite.

And here comes the surprise… after the wedding breakfast the guests had an impromptu game of rugby on the huge lawn. I just love the bride’s expression as she shouted encouragement!

The evening

As it was beginning to get dark we did the sparklers by the pond.

Before going back inside to greet the evening guests and cut the “cheese”cake and enjoy the dancing.
