Firstly if you’re looking for a country house wedding venue with some history, then Cantley House may just be the one. Once owned by the Marquis of Ormonde, the hotel was built in 1880. Cantley House retains lots of period details and original architectural features. In 2001 The Clocktower wing was added bringing a further 15 Executive rooms and suites. There are several quirky features, including the bowler hat lampshades in the vault Bar. And the Oak room deserves special mention it is truly a very gorgeous room for your wedding ceremony, filled with light and plenty of beautiful character.
17th Century Barn
Secondly if you can’t quite decide if you want a country house hotel or a traditional barn, then definitely look at Cantley House because it has both! The Briar is a seventeenth century barn set in the grounds of the hotel. It is a beautiful venue for your wedding breakfast. There are exposed beams, a huge fireplace (they light the fire when the weather is cold) and the ceiling is adorned with romantic fairy lights.
Extensive Grounds
Thirdly Cantley House is set in 50 acres of grounds, a little haven of peace. There is a tree-lined drive, gardens including a pergola for outdoor wedding ceremonies and a large lawn. The lawn is suitable for a marquee if you wanted one or garden games or a bouncy castle. In addition outside the Briar Barn is a little courtyard, which really comes into it’s own in the evening because of the vintage lamp post and the festoon lights.
