This romantic wedding took place with friends and family on a bright but chilly 1st of April.
Getting ready
The groom arrived dressed and ready with his best man. The guys made finishing touches and put on their buttonholes just outside the ceremony room. One of the bridesmaids delivered a card for the groom from the bride.
Upstairs in the Oast House flat, the bride and her bridesmaids were getting ready. She gave a bracelet to each of her bridesmaids and the flower girl.
Meanwhile the father of the bride was waiting outside on the stairs to come and see his daughter in her wedding dress for the “first look”.
Then it was time for a couple of bridal portraits before she had to go and see the registrars.
The Ceremony
At this point it was time for me to go downstairs to capture guests waiting in the barn for the bride’s arrival.
The couple’s little daughter was their smallest flower girl and she led the bridal party up the aisle.
It was a joyful and nerve-racking time for the couple and both cried as they met at the top of the aisle. And there were more emotions to come during the ceremony.
Once they had said their vows, the readings had been done and the formalities were finished, it was time to go out and celebrate.
And it’s out into the sunshine in the courtyard garden for confetti.
The Drinks Reception
Since it was so cold outside the couple decided that they wanted their formal group photos inside, so we used the raised area in front of the curtains as a backdrop. This made it easy and quick as the guests were in close proximity enjoying some fizz and canapés and the best man was able to organise everyone ready for me to photograph them. Some people did make it outside to enjoy the garden games.
Couple photos
The gardens at the Barn at Bury Court are stunning in every season and make for a gorgeous backdrop for couple photos. It’s also super convenient to have them right there so that the couple don’t need to leave their guests for long whilst they have a few portraits taken together.
The Reception
The couple chose to have an afternoon tea for their wedding breakfast and the barn looked lovely with the chandeliers and fairy lights.
There were some hilarious speeches, followed by a raucous game of spoons, as the serious drinking began.
Evening Couple Photos
During the turnaround of the venue, before the evening guests arrived, there was a quick ten minute slot to steal the couple away for photos in the rapeseed field.
Finally it was time for the first dance.
