Classic Christmas Wedding with all the Family at The Elvetham

The Elvetham Hotel in the December sunshine

This intimate wedding, with family and friends took place only days before Christmas. The couple are both big Christmas fans and wanted all of the decorations to feature in their photos. The Bride got ready in the Seymour room, with mum, aunts, flower girls and bridesmaids. The little ones were great fun and kept us all on our toes.

Bridal preparations

Of course having an aunt who is a professional hairdresser definitely came in handy and she did a beautiful job of everyone’s hair. The bride’s make up was done by Kate Causton

.

Often I photograph the wedding dress in the room where the bride is getting ready, but if I can find an architectural feature then I will happily use that instead. I love the symmetry of this archway.

Meanwhile the groom and his best man had arrived with the boys. We did some portraits and group shots in the Morning room. And as always I captured lots of natural shots too.

The Wedding Ceremony

Once ready, the bride was escorted downstairs by her father to meet her waiting groom in the Oak room. The room looked beautiful and so christmassy with the huge tree and greenery on both the chandeliers and the fireplace.

There were tears during the emotional ceremony, which included a reading by the bride’s sister and eukele playing by a family friend, while the register was signed.

Immediately after the ceremony the bride and groom enjoyed a quiet glass of champagne. Meanwhile the guests went outside in preparation for the confetti.

Couple Portraits

After group shots, I whisked the bride and groom off into the grounds at the front of the hotel for some couple shots. It was only a very short portrait session because the weather was freezing.

After that there was time for some candid photos of guests mingling in the bar and also some detail photographs of the wedding breakfast setup, before it was time to leave.

The couple booked me for 4 hours and received just over 300 photos.
