Getting ready

The morning started crisp and chilly as I arrived for bridal prep at the Oast House flat at Bury Court Barn. The bride was getting ready with her mum and three bridesmaids. The hair and make up team were busy but calm.

The bride had bought the girls matching gowns, something that I always encourage because it looks lovely for the getting ready photos.

The mother of the bride helped her daughter into her wedding dress. It was such a gorgeous dress and don’t you just love a dress with pockets!

Then it was time for Dad and the other bridesmaids to see her for the first time in her dress.

Meanwhile the groom and his groomsmen got ready at home, with the second photographer. They arrived early to the venue so that they could greet the guests.

The Ceremony

There were nervous smiles from everyone, and some tears during the ceremony, but everything went well. The legal ceremony was followed by a blessing led by a friend.

Couples often ask about having a second photographer and the following show the results that you can get with two photographers. I was behind the registrar at the top of the aisle and my second was up on the balcony.

Couple photos

Immediately after the ceremony we did the formal group photos in the courtyard garden. Then the couple greeted some of their guests and had a glass of champagne and some canapés. When they had spent some time with friends and family, we nipped off for a few couple photos. There are so many lovely spots for this. The couple requested the log pile and the private gardens, as well as the courtyard garden.

Wedding Breakfast and Speeches

The Barn looked beautiful, decorated with fairy lights and flowers. The couple chose a soft pastel theme with pink and yellow florals. (The bridesmaids wore pale pink dresses). The speeches took place before the meal, so that everyone could relax and enjoy the Wedding Breakfast.

The Evening Celebrations

Before the evening guests arrived we snatched a minute to do a quick silhouette portrait of the bride and groom. After that it was time for the cutting of the cake and first dance.
