The Welcome Church, Woking – André & Abi’s Surrey wedding

This October morning dawned warm and bright for André & Abi’s wedding in Woking. They each got ready at home with their friends – I was with Abi and the girls, whilst Bridget, my second shooter, was with the boys and André. I do love this part of the wedding, you get to see the banter between friends and it’s usually a fairly relaxed point in the day as they get ready. Often there are gifts too, perhaps between bride and groom or from the couple to their wedding party. Of course time nearly always runs away and there is a last minute rush to get out of the door promptly – but in this instant Abi’s dad had everyone organised and all ran smoothly. The wedding service was held at the Welcome church in Woking and the church was full of guests from across the globe. There were readings from family members in English and in Portuguese. After a huge amount of confetti had been thrown at them, we whisked the happy couple off to the nearby Basingstoke canal for some couple photos. The wedding breakfast was held at the church and was followed by speeches (well done to those who managed both English and Portuguese). Dancing was quite spectacular with a dance-off between men and women – I couldn’t possibly say who won! We rounded off the evening with sparklers. Thank you for asking me to be your wedding photographer – it was a great day and we wish you many congratulations.
